Botanical illustration is the centuries old art of depicting the form, colour and details of plant species. Works are traditionally produced in watercolour, although other media can be used, such as acrylics, oils, pastels, graphite, pen and ink.
The
Canberra Institute of Botanical Art (CIBA) and
Beechworth Institute of Botanical Art (BIBA) are private enterprises dedicated to bringing some of Australia’s best botanical art teachers to these regions. Students can choose from various workshops, starting with introductory classes. Through CIBA and BIBA students study the different tools and techniques used by expert botanical artists. Beginners and any experienced artists are warmly welcomed to all workshops.
